Creative Disappointments Are Life Events
What was your biggest creative disappointment?
I think as artists we tend to downplay our creative disappointments.
I can tell you why I do it.
When you announce to the world that you’re going to become an artist, you don’t hear, “Wow that’s great.” You hear, “Yikes, good luck!”
I became an artist feeling like I had so much to prove. I wasn’t going to show anyone, not even myself, if I’d fallen short. If I’d been let down. If I felt in any way discouraged.
But here’s the thing: creative disappointments are real.
And if we don’t acknowledge them, we don’t heal from them, and they start to wreak havoc on our creative lives.
So! This week Muzi is a healing space. We are going to acknowledge our creative disappointments. We are going to heal together from our creative disappointments.
